So I just got off the phone to the woman who was gonna be our landlady. I told her me and the boyf had split up and we wouldn't be moving into the house anymore. She said that she doubted we'd get our deposits back because we'd made her lose out on two weeks of potential rent and she thought they'd already been cashed, even though we hadn't yet signed a tenancy agreement.

So I've just checked my online banking and the cheques got cashed today.

£200 each, up the swanney.

I think I should be able to claim it back, seeing as no paperwork was signed. Surely we're not bound to the property or anything, and its tough luck that we've had to pull out? Then again, I feel really bad for her cos I know we've left her in the shit and I know how hard it is to find someone to rent your house.
