....I've just been to see Mamma Mia!

I know, I know. Nick, don't you start. But I have a confession to make: I love ABBA. I was brought up on them and know almost all of their songs. And when I say 'almost all', I don't mean the ones off ABBA Gold. I mean the B sides and the session tracks that never made it to albums and the unrealeased songs and the unpopular ones. I don't care what you say, Bjorn and Benny were and still are musical geniuses. Look at Chess. 'I know him so well' is by far one of the simpler songs and it still made no. 1 (I think) in the 80s.

Anyway, excuse my big defensive ABBA rampage.

Anyway, the film was goddamn awful. I mean it was briliiant and hilarious, but awful in a cringey sort of way. Pierce Brosnan cannot sing fantastically. And he has a number of solos. And the songs seem even more cheesey when sung spontaneously throughout a film. Still, I enjoyed it overall and it was a free night out cos my mum went with me. Can't say fairer than that!

Also saw an interesting looking trailer called Inkheart - gonna go look it up now....
